A Track Record Built in TrialVerdicts, settlements, and what clients have said.

What follows is a sampling of the work: outcomes from recent matters, recognition from the legal community, and the words of the people we have represented.

In criminal matters, a successful outcome might mean a dismissal, an acquittal at trial, or a sentence well below what the prosecution had on the table. In civil cases, it can be a settlement, a verdict, or a court order that materially changes a client's situation. Below is a sampling of outcomes our partners have achieved across both practices, drawn from matters where the firm and the client have allowed the work to be discussed publicly.

Past results never guarantee a particular outcome in any future matter, but they show how we approach the work. Every result on this page was obtained by one of the partners personally, not by an associate or contract attorney.

Verdicts & Settlements

Recent Outcomes

A representative selection of recent results across criminal defense and civil litigation. Confidential settlements are noted as such where the terms cannot be disclosed.

For Stuart & Ward to complete Each card below is a placeholder. For every card, provide: the outcome in 3 to 6 words ("Charges dismissed," "Not guilty verdict," "Confidential settlement," "$1.2M recovery"); a brief description of the matter without any client-identifying details, ideally 1 to 2 sentences; the practice area (Criminal Defense or Civil Litigation); the court or county; and the approximate year. Aim for a balanced mix of criminal and civil outcomes. Six to twelve results is the right range; the layout can absorb more cards if you have them.

Peer Endorsement · Tom Ward, first-degree murder defense

We hired Tom Ward for our case. He went beyond what was expected when working with the DA, and got the DA to agree to everything he was asking for, which is something hard to do and honestly never happens. He will fight your case until the end.
